Comment Policy

Welcome to our blog! We look forward to your participation on this and our other social media accounts, and encourage you to share your thoughts on the topics being discussed. But because we’re a public agency, here are a few things you should know before posting comments on our sites:

WE ONLY MONITOR COMMENTS DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS

If you have a sewer emergency, please call (925) 933-0955 any time.

We recognize that the Internet is a 24/7 medium and your comments are welcome at any time. However, given the need to manage resources, we only monitor our social media accounts and respond to comments during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. When closed for holidays, we review comments on the next business day.

We encourage employees and the public to participate and share their knowledge about topics relevant to our agency, but please note that views expressed in social media comments reflect those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official views of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San).

WE MODERATE COMMENTS

We want our social media sites to provide a welcoming environment for everyone who participates, so we reserve the right to delete or not post comments that:

  • Contain obscene, indecent, or profane language;
  • Contain threats or defamatory statements;
  • Contain hate speech directed at race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ethnicity, age, religion, or disability;
  • Promote or endorse services or products. (Note that non-commercial links that are relevant to the topic or another comment are generally acceptable.)

YOUR COMMENTS ARE PUBLIC RECORDS

Because we are a public agency, all information and comments posted on our social media accounts are public records and will be retained in accordance with the Public Records Act. Any content posted – comments (even deleted comments), photos, videos, subscriber lists, etc. – could be subject to public disclosure.

PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION

In some cases we may ask you to provide your name and e-mail address so that we can contact you, if necessary. It is our policy not to publish your e-mail address. To protect your privacy, please do not include personal information (e.g., email address or phone number) in your comments or social media posts.
